Vivid

This is quite vivid in choice of colors and contrast. The octapus looks like he is wearing sunglasses. The really interesting thing in this piece is indeed the acrylics. They are so bright! The squiggly detailing used here is much different than the edgey, crispy look of the video game profiles.

Zombie-clock-monkey responds:

Thanks, I try to do the piece in whatever ever style feels right for what I'm drawing, for example with the video game covers everthing I was drawnig seems to be made of metal so it felt right, however this is much more organic, so it was much easier to use paint.

Beautiful

Perfect in choice of medium. Tthe way you have textured some things reminds me of old man Vince Van Gogh. This picture makes me feel nice.

greyheaven responds:

Thanks! Glad you like it!

I love it

This is the most creative thing I have seen in a little while....cyborg, eh? It looks like it almost feels...or that it did.
The colors all compliment each other very nicely. Can't wait to see more!

Part human you know :)

Thank you!

this is my favorite so far

Very original way to integrate the positive and negative space of the composition in order to provide an eye-popping piece that once again encourages the eye to take the entire thing in at once. The low amount of detail could perhaps have been better expressed through more closely-blended gradients.

Zombie-clock-monkey responds:

The first thing I thought of was that as a stencil, so I drew the outlines and went from there.

Colour is cool!

I like that you used traditional techniques (i.e. hatching) with your colouring pencils. It makes things blend together to the point at which the art itself is taken in altogether rather than being just a quick sketch. Like a painting should be, dig?

I have to say that things kind of blur too far together towards the bottom, as if the composition itself is too light. Perhaps the use of more sharply contrasting edges would help keep things organized...

How long did this take between drawing and colouring?

Zombie-clock-monkey responds:

I spent a stupid amount of time on it, and used a stupid amount of different colouring pencils, but around 4 to 5 hours start to finish.

I think by the time I got to the bottom of the page I was growing a bit tired of it, the face was the most fun part and I did that first, so the rest was just a chrore really.

Clever take on Box-art

I think that this is put together very well. Your take on the original art (from the cover, right?) has a more organic feeling to it...like the armor is made of stone rather than high-polymer synthetic whatever. At first it kind of looked like you might have traced it from the box, but on double-looking found it was very different. Great work!

Zombie-clock-monkey responds:

Somthing along those lines, lol, and I'm glad you bothered to check and not just assuming that I traced it, thank you.

I love to draw and make music!
